Counterparts and Confusion

Although we look toward the arrival of Christmas day as a way of celebrating the Lord's deliverance of humanity from the death of sin, the Jews are in the final few days of their celebration of Chanukka (Hanukkah) in which the remember the deliverance brought about by the Maccabees against the strong hand of the Syrians.
I have been intrigued to read various Jewish perspectives on this week of celebration and have come to the conclusion that many Israelis are operating in confusion. The reason for this comes from a deep sense of contradiction. In their minds, they celebrate their freedom, yet many see the plight of the Palestinians as mirroring their own Jewish history. How can true freedom be celebrated while an entire people are held in subjugation? I even found an article that condemned the Israeli government for using an overbearing iron fist while being ripe with corruption. That was from an Israeli citizen. Why the confusion in the face of nearing calamity at the hands of Israel's multiple enemies?
I submit that these Jews are suffering from spiritual bi-polarisim. They are attempting to maintain the freedom to exist, but have not discovered the existence of true freedom. I speak of the freedom provided by the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Yeshua, not the temporary freedom and cleansing of the temple gained by the Maccabees. Only Jesus offered the cleansing of the inner temple, the spirit of the person. Only Jesus offered the transformation from death to life. Only Jesus provides the hope of deliverance. What both the Jews and the Palestinians seek is LIFE.
As you celebrate your way through this Christmas season, remember to pray for those who are still in bondage. Pray for Jews, Muslims, Africans, Irish, Russians, Chinese, and everyone in between. Pray for your neighbor across the street. Pray for a fresh arrival of freedom.
NOW for a bit of NEWS.
Iran:
New Centrifuges Developed
(From today's Jerusalem Post)
Iran has found a way to get around whatever sanctions are in place and import the necessary parts to develop faster centrifuges for the enriching of uranium. The fact that Iran continues to defy the international community should come as no surprise. However, there seems to be an urgency attached to Iran's mission to construct nuclear weapons. Why? Could it be that Muslim's bent to the Shi'a interpretation of the Koran are sensing (by way of the demonic delusion behind it) the return of the Mahdi in the same way that we who believe in the Rapture of the Church somehow sense the sounding of the trumpet is drawing near?
The scriptures tell us that Lucifer understands his time is short. He knows what is coming. His mission of opposing God is taking on an urgency never before witnessed in the the cosmos. For my part, I'm so very glad I am, only by the grace of God, on the side that has already achieved the victory over the enemy. That is cause for celebration!

The Game of the Diplomatic Waggle

"Waggle" is just another word to describe the eternal BABBLE that is going on in the Holy Land....namely, that it's all Israel's fault, if Israel only makes a few more concessions we'll come to the peace table, etc, etc, etc, waggle waggle waggle.
It is painfully obvious that the Palestinian leadership has no interest in pursuing peace. The pursuit is for total control of all the land that was deeded to Abraham. Until the descendants of Ishmael are recognized as the rightful heir of the Patriarch, no peace will be established with Isaac the usurper. Thus, the end run. Rather than re-approach the negotiating table where Israel awaits with yet more concessions, the Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, makes a run to the European Union...starting with Sweden. Of course, those ignorant of the greater issues of religion that are intertwined in the strife will proceed on the basis of a humanistic logic that states that opposing people groups can actually get along. The problem is that logic has never held true for any length of time. Even in the great melting pot of the United States we are beginning to see the effects of multi-culturalism and the end result of ethnic division. In fact, ethnic diversity is just another way of saying ethnic boundaries. Boundaries demand defense. Encroachment of the boundaries means WAR.
So what does the EU do with its vast humanistic wisdom? It calls for the division of Jerusalem into two distinct capitals, meaning a greater portion of the land must be divided to satisfy the national rights of the Palestinians. That might be fine and good if the Palestinians had any other foundational priority than the complete annihilation of the Jews and the State of Israel. As it is, dividing the land and the city of Jerusalem will only lead to further, and greater attacks on the right of Israel to exist. Now that the EU has climbed on board with Barack Obama in calling for a contiguous Palestinian State, there really isn't much point for the Palestinian leadership to sit down and smoke a peace pipe with their mortal enemy.

There is no doubt in my mind that war is just around the corner. The Hizbollah, on the Lebanese border, have rearmed themselves with nearly 50,000 Syrian/Iranian rockets and America-provided military hardware. Hamas is not only in control of the Gaza Strip, but have gained a foothold in the West Bank, and they are now locked and loaded with at least the same number of rockets as Hizbollah. Syria and Iran are as kissy-face as two contries can be, and Jordan is quickly falling into a no-win situation in its moderate stance toward Israel. Iran is "this close" (pinch your thumb and forefinger together) to completing its quest for developing a nuclear bomb. Israel is the same hair's breadth away from an obligatory strike against Iran. Time is running out! Why? Russia has promised Iran its new S300 Anti-aircraft missile system that is impenetrable to anything but stealthy aircraft. That delivery will soon happen, and when it does, the door will be closed to an Israeli strike without American help. (Note: The US has refused Israeli requests to purchase the FA-18 stealth fighter.) Do you really think Barack Obama is going to commit to an attack against Iran? Didn't think so.
Again, time is running out. That means we must be about our Father's business NOW!. Then, when this thing breaks out, be ready to share Christ like never before. People will be open simply because the world will be immersed in chaos and terror. You have the answer!

Obama to Back Palestinian State Resolution and Land Claims

World Net Daily reports that the Obama Administration is likely not to veto a UN resolution recognizing Palestinian statehood and will even support Palestinian claims over disputed territories, including wresting from Israel control over the Temple Mount, a most sacred spot in the world to Jews.According to WND correspondent Aaron Klein, "the Palestinian Authority has been negotiating an understanding with the Obama administration regarding a Palestinian threat to unilaterally ask the United Nations to recognize a Palestinian state outside of negotiations with Israel, WND has learned."According to a senior PA official, the PA's chief negotiator, Saeb Erekat, headed a team that held a series of meetings the past few weeks with members of the Obama administration in Washington to discuss the U.S. response should the Palestinians bring to the U.N. Security Council a resolution to unilaterally create a Palestinian state."The U.S. position is less restrained than it appears in the media," said the PA official, referring to media claims the U.S. would veto any such resolution. The PA official told WND the Obama administration did not threaten to veto the conceptual unilateral resolution, which had been threatened by the Palestinians last month. The official also said the U.S. supports the creation of a Palestinian state in the 1967 borders, meaning in the Gaza Strip, West Bank and eastern sections of Jerusalem. The report follows a WND interview last month with Ahmed Qurei, former PA prime minister and member of the Palestinian Liberation Organization executive committee, who said the PA 'reached an understanding with important elements within the (Obama) administration" to possibly bring to the resolution to the U.N. Security Council.'""A top PA negotiator, speaking on condition of anonymity, named the U.S. ambassador to the U.N., Susan Rice and National Security Council member Samantha Power as among the Obama administration officials who were involved with the Palestinians' U.N. threat."WND's Klein reports that the US will soon make a public declaration explicitly supporting Palestinian claims over the Temple Mount and almost all of Judea. Klein says that the US may support land swaps that would allow Israel to retain control over Maaleh Adumim, Gush Etzion and the Ariel bloc, areas where there are concentrations of Jewish population and relatively few Palestinians. (Source: Israel Insider)
It is probably high time to wake up and realize our leadership has, and continues, to distance itself from Israel. In so doing, the United States government is shaking its fist in the face of God. This is not good! (Anti-hyperbole)

America's Duplicity Continues

First, let me say THANKS to Pastor Greg Ables and the men of Newspring Family Church in Jenks, Oklahoma for the warm reception and enthusiasm demonstrated at the Bible and Current Events Conference on December 11th. What a great bunch of guys.
NOW, on to the news!
America's duplicity is nothing new. For decades our government has played with a two-sided card in the Middle East. On one side is our historic support of Israel, the only true democracy in the region. On the other hand are the Arabs and their much coveted supply of crude oil. Up until now, every American President since Truman has waffled back and forth between the two. Jimmy Carter once held the distinction of being the most anti-Semitic of the lot, that is until Barack Obama arrived on the scene. He has taken the "anti-Israeli" position to nearly deadly proportions. (I believe, in fact, that Obama has gone so far as to initiate the Abrahamic curse against the United States for his UN speech of September 23, 2009, but that's another story.)
With the wolves closing in and arming up around the circumference of Israel, America's great opportunity to reverse course and come to Israel's aid is now before us. But what does our government do? It continues to arm Lebanon, an army and government that has over the last few months become recognizably bedded with Hizbollah. When war does break out (and it will very soon), it will be American tanks, artillery, and anti-aircraft weapons the Israelis will face. This is NOT GOOD! READ this article from the Jerusalem Post and let your blood get warm. (And understand that when an Arab says "No war with Israel soon" he is saying just the opposite. I know that may sound generalized, but history has proven it true.)

Hizbullah: No War with Israel Soon
By YAAKOV KATZ AND JPOST.COM STAFF

Hizbullah deputy leader Sheikh Naim Kassim does not expect a war between Israel and his guerrilla organization in the near future, according to a Sunday report in the Kuwaiti paper Al-Rai.

Kassim stressed, however, that Hizbullah would be ready for war even if it was to break out tomorrow.
Internal politics in Israel, the state of Jerusalem-US relations, and Hizbullah's strength were the main factors preventing another round of fighting, he was quoted as saying.
On Saturday, meanwhile, defense officials expressed concern over reports that Lebanese President Michel Suleiman plans to urge US officials to expedite the delivery of weapons for the nation's army during a trip to Washington this week.
The appeal from Suleiman, who arrived in Washington on Saturday, is at the heart of much of the country's political turmoil. Lebanon's government is a shaky coalition of Western-backed factions and Syrian-supported groups led by Hizbullah.
The United States has long provided military assistance to Lebanon - including $410 million to the military and the police. But America has not handed over any sophisticated arms for fear they could end up in the hands of Hizbullah.

According to the US Embassy in Beirut, the military assistance over the past years includes aircraft, tanks, artillery, small boats, infantry weapons, ammunition, Humvees and cargo trucks. It added that the US will provide the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) with 12 Raven unmanned reconnaissance and surveillance aircraft in the coming months.
Israeli officials expressed concern with the growing alliance between the Lebanese government and Hizbullah. The Lebanese parliament recently approved a national unity government that will allow Hizbullah to keep its weapons despite strong criticism from pro-Western lawmakers.
Last week, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu warned that Hizbullah was becoming the "real Lebanese army" and was today the dominant force in Lebanon.
Practically, the issue at hand for Israel is whether it will make a distinction during a future war between Hizbullah and LAF targets like it did during the Second Lebanon War in 2006. Due to the growing alliance between the two as well as the government's support of Hizbullah, it is unlikely, officials said, that Israel would make the distinction in the future.
"Hizbullah and the LAF are turning into one and the same," one high-ranking defense official said recently. "Practically, this means more targets in a future conflict."
Hisham Jaber, who heads the Middle East Center for Studies and Public Relations in Beirut, said Suleiman's appeal is part of his work to develop a national defense strategy that would eventually integrate Hizbullah's weapons into the army.
"You cannot speak about a defense strategy and disarming the resistance without the presence of a strong army," Jaber told The Associated Press.
The White House said earlier this month that Obama and Suleiman would discuss a broad range of issues, including achieving peace in the region.

Whoever Says Relations With Turkey Are Getting Better Are Just Plain WRONG

Turkey is, once again, making it's stance very clear. Formerly, that stance was quite pro-Israeli. In fact, it was the most pro-Israeli of any Muslim country. That changed dramatically this past October when Turkey began to court a relationship with Iran and the extreme side of Islam.
Now, a gauntlet has been thrown to the turf.
From today's Jerusalem Post..........

Turkey warns IAF Against Using Airspace
By JPOST.COM STAFF

If Israel were to violate Turkish airspace in order to conduct reconnaissance operations on Iran, Ankara's reaction would resemble an "earthquake," Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in an interview with Egyptian journalist Fahmi Huwaidi published Thursday morning.

Responding to a question concerning rumors that Israel had entered Turkey's airspace for espionage purposes, Erdogan said that such a thing had never happened, but that the consequences would be dire if it did.
"[Israel] will receive a response equal to that of an earthquake," he cautioned, urging Israel's leaders to refrain from "using the relationship they have with [Turkey] as a card to wage aggression on a third party."
Ankara would not be a neutral party and stand aside with its arms folded, he said.
_________________________________________________
Of course, the "third party" mentioned is Turkey's new best buddy, Iran! The way I see it, the Ezekiel 38-39 Magog Coalition is now solidly formed, locked, and loaded. (Gomer, as mentioned in earlier posts is the people group that inhabited the land mass that is today modern Turkey.) All that awaits is the Lord's setting of a hook! With that thought, try this news item on for size.
If attacked, Iran Wants Syria to Hit Back at Israel...
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report
December 10, 2009, 5:16 PM (GMT+02:00)

DEBKAfile's military sources report that this message Iran's defense minister Ahmad Vahidi brought to Damascus where he is attending a session of the high Iranian-Syrian defense committee which went into its second day Thursday, Dec. 10. Syrian defense minister Ali Habib is in the chair.
The Iranian visitor indicated that Tehran expects an Israeli attack within a month. According to Iranian intelligence, Jerusalem will take its green light from President Barack Obama's forced admission after Christmas that his policy of dialogue and stiffer sanctions have failed in the face of Tehran's rejection of the international proposal to send its enriched uranium for overseas processing.
"The countdown for war is coming close to its end," said Vahidi to the joint defense committee. " And we must get our strategic partnership in shape ahead of time."
The leitmotif of the Iranian defense secretary's talks in Damascus was the fate Iran and Syria share and their strategic partnership as the only safeguards against what he called "'American-backed Zionist aggression." Syria must commit itself to joint military action against Israel, because “stronger defense ties between Iran and Syria are elements of deterrence in confronting the Zionist regime's threats to the countries of the region.”
For the first, time, Gen. Vahidi openly threatened to respond to a possible Israel attack on Iran's nuclear facilities by striking Israel's "chemical, microbiological and banned nuclear weapons" production sites.
His message brought forth a tepid Syrian response: The Iranian news agency IRNA quoted Syrian Secretary of Defense Ali Habib as commenting early Thursday, December 10, that an attack on Iran by any party would be deemed an attack on Syria and draw commensurate retaliation.
Looks line a good-sized hook to me!

The struggle to grasp the balance between God's love and God's justice has been with us since the first century. For many, it is contradictory to use the two terms at the same time when describing the character of God. But gaining an understanding of the just nature of our Holy God is as important has attempting to comprehend the depth of his love. In today's 4.0 version of Christianity, expressing the same love to the enemies of holiness and justice has risen to the same level as demonstrating Christ's love to the poor and oppressed. To me, this is what simply does not add up! God hates injustice! We should too. The birth of the United States is a powerful example of the balance between love and justice. Our forefathers were followers of Christ. They used God's moral law as the foundation stone for the constitution. That same moral law drove them to stand against injustice and tyranny, even to the point of risking their lives to insure God's liberty and freedom to the people of our land. Why? Because they understood that, although God loves the sinner, he also hates the injustice perpetrated by the sinner and will judge the sinner for perpetrating it. Over and over again in scripture we see that the Lord used physical means (i.e. nations and individuals) to bring about a reckoning against the wicked. But we still are admonished to love those who spitefully use us....in other words, to love those who individually target us for our love for the Lord Jesus Christ. So, what do we do when we are faced with horrible injustice on a larger than individual scale? What do we do when tyranny rises to subjugate the people and remove the dignity of human existence?

No Holds Barred: Why do Christians Refuse to Hate?
By SHMULEY BOTEACH

Visiting Zimbabwe can be a heart-wrenching experience. It is a beautiful land of warm and soft-spoken people. But hovering over the landscape at all times is the specter of extreme poverty and political oppression. The poverty is merely tragic. But the political oppression is brutal, murderous and criminal. Most of the people I met went quiet with fear on the subject of Robert Mugabe, afraid that a stranger may be a government agent and any criticism can make you the next target of his thugs.
One innocent victim was Ben Freeth, a sunny Christian farmer who, after publishing an article in the Western press about the illegal and murderous farm seizures being carried out by Mugabe's Zanu (PF) party, was savagely beaten and later watched as his farm was burned to the ground. When I met Freeth in Harare last week he described to me and my friends from the Christian relief organization ROCK of Africa which was hosting us, how in the midst of the assault that fractured his skull, he suddenly reached out and touched the feet of his assailants and said, "Bless you, bless you." My Christian counterparts were deeply moved by this quintessential story of Christian love for one's enemy. I, however, was aghast.
Ben is a hero who, at the risk of his life continues to serve as a spokesman for the thousands of white families who have been brutally dispossessed of their land and many of whom have been killed. But I could not help but challenge this aspect of the story. "Every ounce of blessing we have in our hearts has to be reserved for all the AIDS orphans that I saw dotting this once-proud land. These wretched thugs deserve not our blessing but our contempt, not our love but out hatred."
A debate broke out in the room. I alone maintained my position. My dear friend Glen Megill, a saint who founded ROCK of Africa, said, "Shmuley, Jesus told us to love our enemies."
Yes, I said. But your enemy is the guy who steals your parking space. God's enemies are those who murder His children. And Jesus never said to love God's enemies. To the contrary, the book of Proverbs is clear, "The fear of the Lord is to hate evil." Psalms reinforces the point. "Those who love God hate evil."
This is something that has always puzzled me. My Christian colleagues at ROCK of Africa are angels. In 10 days we distributed corn seed to the poorest villages, gave out mosquito nets, hugged and prayed with AIDS victims and put on large feasts for hundreds of hungry villagers and children who dwell in mud huts. We colored pictures with orphans in Harare and gave them toys and presents. The hearts of evangelical Christians are enormous repositories of loving-kindness. But why must the heart be so wide as to extend to Mugabe's killer henchmen? What place have murderers earned in our hearts? The same is true of my many Christian brothers who have told me that their faith commands them to love Osama bin Laden.

MY FEAR is that such distortions of Christian teaching undermine our resolve to confront evil regimes. When Jesus enjoined to "turn the other cheek," he meant to petty slights and humiliations. Does any sane person really imagine that he meant to ignore and overlook mass murder? Mugabe has brought a reign of terror to Zimbabwe, making its name synonymous with wholesale slaughter, political intimidation, brutalization of opposition elements and illegal land grabs. The country is now the poorest nation on Earth, with an annual per capita GDP of just $200. Donor agencies estimate that more than 5 million Zimbabweans, representing almost half the population, currently rely on food handouts. The stores are half empty and last year they were completely empty. The ATMs often have no cash. Many of the gas stations have run out for the day. Even Victoria Falls is nearly bereft of tourists.
The black population is extremely welcoming and exhibits the nobility of spirit of those who have suffered much but complain little. A white population of approximately 4,000, down from about 250,000, still remains. They seem to love Zimbabwe, consider it their home and insist on staying.
They are, of course, hopeful signs, especially the new unity government which has brought Morgan Tsvangirai and Arthur Mutambara into shared power with Mugabe. I interviewed Mutambara, a 43-year-old former Rhodes scholar whom I knew from Oxford and who is now the country's deputy prime minister (the full interview is available on my Web site). A compelling man of vision, eloquence and academic brilliance, he is convinced that within two years, Zimbabwe will be completely ready for free and fair elections. I hope he is right.
But farm confiscations continue and Mugabe's gangsters still terrorize political opponents. And the only hope for Mugabe to be completely and utterly marginalized is if the international community comes together to push him off the scene. This will not come if the man does not chill our bones. We must not bless but curse his rule.
I don't do well with tyranny. I have undisguised contempt for tyrants and knowing that I was staying just a few miles from Mugabe's house spooked me throughout my stay in Harare. As you drive by his home you are told that you are not allowed to look for fear of attracting suspicion and being arrested.
Highly-educated locals told me there is a law that says that you cannot stare at his motorcade either and that his guards have been known to fire on those who do. Is this a man whom my Christian friends tell me I must love?
No, I refuse. I will go further. Anyone who loves the wicked is complicit in their wickedness. Anyone who blesses the cruel is an accomplice to their cruelty.
I choose to bless the courageous people of Zimbabwe rather than the tyrant who has slaughtered and impoverished them. I choose to bless a country like America which fights to liberate the weak in Iraq and the oppressed in Afghanistan rather than the Saddams and the Taliban who have brutalized them.
Most of all, I choose to bless people like Ben Freeth that one day the long arm of justice will catch up to his tormentors and they will discover that while God is indeed a long-suffering God, for those who continue to slaughter innocents He is also a God of justice.

EU Invokes Joel 3 Without Even Knowing

"For behold, in those days and at that time when I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem, I will gather the nations and bring them down to theValley of Jehoshaphat. And I will ender into judgment with them there, on behalf of my people and my heritage Israel, because they scattered them among the nations and have divided up my land..." Joel 3:1-2
The European Union has expressed it's supreme arrogance in true Nazi-esque fashion. EU leaders have decided to impose its will and force the ultimate Jewish concession....the division of Jerusalem! No UN vote. No adherence to the truth that the Palestinians have made not one concession in 30 years, but have continued to call for the annihilation of Israel. No recognition of the fact that 40,000 rockets are waiting to be launched from Gaza in order to produce the next forced concession. What insanity...or is it? Remember that the enemy desires to destroy God's people, both the redeemed in Christ as well as the people of the Davidic Covenant. (Revelation 12) Satan is using every tool, and all the stops are out. I imagine the next thing we'll see is an accepting tone coming from Barack Obama.
This from the Jerusalem Post

J'lem mayor: EU resolution is racist
The statement said that main factor preventing a peace agreement was "the Palestinian refusal to return to the negotiating table."
"Given the Israel government's efforts to renew negotiations, Israel regrets that the EU has chosen to adopt a text that, although containing nothing new, does not contribute to the renewal of negotiations," the statement added.
Nonetheless, the Foreign Ministry expressed relief that the original Swedish draft, which did not recognize Israel's claims to east Jerusalem, was revised, stating that the "voices of the responsible and reasonable EU states" had prevailed.

The Foreign Ministry statement ended with a call for the EU to "promote direct negotiations between the parties, while considering Israel's security needs and understanding that Israel's Jewish character must be preserved in any future agreement."

The mayor noted that the recent celebration of the 20th anniversary of the reunification of Berlin reminds everyone that no divided city in the history of the world has functioned properly.
There you have it.

Zechariah 9: A Chapter on the Verge of Fulfillment

The first necessary item in tackling this chapter is to get a real grasp on the time frame involved. That actually begins in Zechariah 8:7-8; “Thus says the Lord of host: behold, I will save my people from the east country and from the west country, and I will bring them to dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. And they shall be my people, and I will be their God, in faithfulness and in righteousness.” Part of that verse has been fulfilled…God has brought back the Jews to the land. As of yet, Israel remains a predominantly secular nation, but that will eventually change.

Now, unfortunately for some, we have to do some mathematics in order to confirm that what we are about to study actually depicts the times in which we live. So, let’s start with the ancient captivity of the Jews at the hands of Babylon, beginning in the year 606 B.C. God had warned Judah that if they did not repent of their ways, he would raise up a nation from the north, a nation that would overwhelm them and cart them off into captivity. Of course, they chose not to repent and Nebuchadnezzar became the instrument God used.

However, God is not without mercy. His judgment is always meant to bring about repentance if the people are willing. So, he promised Jeremiah that the initial captivity of the people would last for no more than 70 years if the people would only turn and repent. Remember that Daniel had read those words and was driven to pray for their fulfillment. God had also revealed to Isaiah, several hundred years earlier, that a man named Cyrus would be the anointed ruler whom God would use to decree an end to Jewish captivity. You got it, exactly 70 years after the Jews were relocated in Babylon (606 B.C.), Cyrus the Persian issued a decree for the Jews to return to Palestine and rebuild the Temple. He even sent the temple furnishings back with Joshua the Priest, and Zerubabbel of the line of David. That decree was issued in 536 B.C.

The problem gets worse rather than better for the Jews, because only a remnant chose to leave their exile and return to Judea. That had also been written into God’s judgment. In a note to Moses, found in Leviticus 26:18, 21, 23-24, and 27-28, God warned the Jews that if they went into captivity and were given the opportunity to accept their freedom but did not return to Judea, he would curse them. The curse was built upon the same number of years that Israel was in captivity to Egypt…430 years! If, after going into exile the Jews chose not to return, God would subtract the number of years served (like a prison sentence) from the 430. But the remaining number would be multiplied by 7. (I warned you about mathJ) So, our base line is 430. The Jews served 70 years up to the decree by Cyrus, but chose to stay. That left a remainder of 360 years to be multiplied by 7. 360 x 7 = 2483.8 years. (Jewish years are calculated in 360 days.) Splay that number out and we see that the exile of the Jews would end, as it did, on May 14, 1948. Wow! God is true to his word.

In other words, the times and seasons have aligned with Zechariah 8. The beginning date for the end times began on May 14, 1948. That means what we are about to study in Zechariah 9 are on the cusp of being fulfilled. So let’s begin a verse by verse study. (You read it in your Bible, I will offer the commentary.)

(9:1) – Hadrach was an area of northern Syria that encompassed the city of Damascus. Isaiah 17 reveals that Damascus would be destroyed in a day at the hand of Israel. I project that this destruction will be through the use of nuclear weapons. The fact that an entire region – including the neighboring area to the west known as Hamath – would be uninhabitable seems to confirm that hypothesis.

(9:2-4) – Not only Hamath (or eastern Lebanon) would be affected, but the coastal cities of Tyr and Sidon (Lebanon) would also take a nuclear hit. This is born out in Psalm 83 and you can read earlier blogs to see that scenario.

So, to this point we must review the facts.
Israel returns from exile….check….May 14, 1948.
Damascus and Lebanon are destroyed by fire at the hands of Israel… has happened yet.

(9:5-6) – Next, the prophecy is extended against prominent cities of ancient Philistia. These cities still exist today and are populated by Arabs (Palestinians). Ashkelon will be completely destroyed as would be Ekron. The Gaza Strip will writhe in anguish, but not be destroyed, nor would Ashdod. The term “King” is used to refer to the leadership of the people. Today, that leadership is split between Hamas and Fatah. Both will fall at the hands of the Israeli’s as pointed out in Psalm 83 and Ezekiel 25. However, God is rich in mercy. Many do not realize that today, a large population of the Palestinian people, both in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, are believers in the Lord Jesus Christ! Wow!

Now we come to the incredible, God-ordained solution to the Palestinian issue that plagues the Middle East today, and has for most of the last century.

(9:6-8) -- With the leadership (Islamic instigators of terror and hatred) violently removed from among the Palestinians (a mixed people), God will show his great mercy and engraft the surviving population into his covenant with Israel. The Palestinian people will be come like a clan of the tribe of Judah. (vs 7) And just as in ancient times when the foreigner that chose to worship Jehovah were to be protected and accepted as citizens, so will the Palestinian survivors. They will live securely and never again be oppressed. Their current oppression had come at the hands of their own Arabic brothers, the Islamic terrorists that use them as pawns, and even by Israel that cannot allow the terrorist leaders to gain a foothold that would again doom the Jews.

Chapter nine ends with a dual-fulfillment prophecy of the coming of Jesus. The first time he would come riding on a donkey’s colt. The next time, he will arrive in a spectacular display of power in order to rescue his people Israel.

As you read Zechariah 8-14, you cannot help but understand that we have arrived at the hour of seeing these events fulfilled. It will be in a cataclysmic way. But do not fear! Keep your eyes locked on the prize, for Jesus is coming first for his bride—and then to deliver the fulfillment of his ancient covenants to Abraham and David.

This is the BEST time in all history to be alive and serving the KING!

The World's Distorted View of the Palestinian Problem

Even the elite have bought into the distorted view that somehow, the Palestinians only want peace. It is the mean, rotten, Israelis who have prevented a lasting arrangement that would satisfy the injured party of Palestinians. To that end, the European Union has taken up the question, put forth by the Palestinians, that it is only right and just that Jerusalem be divided to become the capitol of a new Palestinian state. Barack Obama flicked his wrist at the notion, but his ridiculous stand on new Jewish settlement (in their own territory) has added anther shade of blindness to the issue. The truth just keeps getting covered up.

Barry Rubin offers a wonderful accounting of the truth...in today's Jerusalem Post.
READ ON!

EXCUSES, EXCUSES!

The Arab-Israeli, or Israel-Palestinian, conflict is the most misrepresented subject in the entire world. The most basic facts are often distorted and the most fantastical of narratives provided, even in college classrooms, about what has actually happened.
On the most single important issue in this framework - why isn't there peace, who wants and doesn't want peace and how can peace be achieved - there is a common set of arguments against Israel.
It goes like this: How can the Palestinians make peace when they are suffering so much and when Israel builds settlements, or Israeli leaders make statements saying they want to keep some of the territory or won't give up east Jerusalem, or do a variety of other things? The idea that the Palestinians don't yearn for peace, are eagerly trying to make some kind of agreement, but are only stopped by Israeli intransigence seems completely self-evident to the point that any challenge of this idea is ridiculed, ignored or treated as some kind of dishonest manipulation.
By the way, many of the things said are factually wrong. Israel has neither constructed new settlements nor expanded their boundaries for 15 years. But for the moment let's leave aside the factual issues.
Nothing could be simpler than to answer these claims.
If the Palestinians are miserable and want to get rid of settlements they have and have had a very simple solution: make peace. Their "interest," in the framework of these claims, would be to make a good deal for themselves as fast as possible.
Yet they have refused to do so on numerous occasions going back decades. In fact, this is the 30th anniversary of the Egypt-Israel agreement at Camp David which first opened the door to a Palestinian state. Then there was the Reagan plan and US-PLO dialogue of the 1980s, followed by the peace process of the 1990s, the Camp David II and president Bill Clinton offers of 2000, and the offer of prime minister Ehud Olmert (who was absolutely desperate for a deal to save his political career) and most recently the Israeli cabinet's peace plan.
If the Palestinians made a deal, they would get an independent state with its capital in east Jerusalem. They would enjoy tremendous sympathy in the West to help them get the best possible terms. What wouldn't they get? They'd have to swap, say, 3 percent or 4% of the West Bank in exchange for an equal amount of Israeli land and they wouldn't get all of east Jerusalem.
That's about it. Oh, and they'd also get many billions of dollars in compensation.
What else would they have to give up? They'd have to agree that a peace treaty ended the conflict, which makes sense. They'd have to resettle Palestinian refugees in Palestine, which also makes sense. They might well have to accept security guarantees for Israel and some limits on their own armaments. But, okay, they could bargain on that and get the best deal possible.
Again, though, there would be no Jewish settlements on Palestinian state soil, though some would become part of Israel due to the land swaps.
NOTE THAT right now the Palestinian Authority is refusing to negotiate at all, nominally because Israel is building a few apartments in Jerusalem. So what? That should be an incentive to negotiate faster so that the construction doesn't go on and on, becoming even more irreversible.
Why is it so hard for people to understand these basic points? Of course, they have been misinformed and nobody's pointed these things out to them. To some extent, the demonization of Israel has distorted their comprehension.
But the truly fundamental problem is that understanding that the solution for the Palestinians is to make a peace agreement - and that Israel isn't blocking this outcome - is that it leaves them with a paradox to resolve: Why, if the Palestinians are suffering so much, won't they make peace?
The answer: The Palestinian leadership wants total victory and Israel's elimination. It is willing to go on letting its people suffer for a century in pursuit of that goal. It hopes that the world will give it everything it wants without having to make any concessions. It realizes that saying "no" and letting the conflict continue gives it more - not less - leverage internationally because this makes Israel look like the guilty party and, consequently, is punished through European policies.
So the arguments being made by Westerners who think they are being sympathetic to a suffering people just don't make sense. In fact, they make things worse. Indeed, they are part of a Palestinian strategy to avoid making peace and encourage such intransigence.
Again, the calculation goes something like this: The longer the Palestinians refuse to make peace, the more people will blame Israel, turn away from it and pressure it into unilateral concessions. This is a masochistic-based approach, a willingness to suffer in exchange for gain, and a gain that partly comes from many onlookers' inability to believe that anyone could use such tactics.
And yet the truth is right out in the open. Don't like settlements? Don't like "occupation?" Then make peace and get rid of these things.

In the next post I will deal with a passage of Scripture found in Zechariah chapter nine. Read it beforehand if you'd like. In the meantime,

Will Obama's Strategy Work?

There can be no doubt, the mouth of Barack Obama is golden. He can deliver a speech with the perfect tonal baritone, eyes that portray wisdom and assurance, and just enough curl on the corners of his lips to demonstrate a confident cockiness. The problem is if anything substantive passes his lips during a speech, odds are the words are detrimental to American interests.
The current debate on the airwaves is over the President's Afghanistan policy. It is a policy that delivers 75% of the "on-the-ground" commander's request of 40,000 new troops. Obama's rhetoric declared a new surge against the forces of Al-Qaeda, yet also gave the date in which we would put down our toys and head for home. (An impossibility that could only have been delivered to satisfy a cook-leftwing base of blooming idiots!) Will the strategy work? That is the question.
Warning!!! The following is my opinion and should not be swallowed without at least 8 ounces of water first thing in the morning. Maybe some sugar! The answer? NO! But not because the President is obviously out of his league in international strategy. Not because he is more afraid of committing troops than he is committing fraud on the American people (i.e. a new stimulus package he will unveil this weekend while everyone is still talking about Tiger's Transgressions.) It is certainly not because the Taliban are better fighters with better equipment and training. His strategy will not work because Barack Obama is NOT IN CHARGE. Yes, you heard it. The Neophyte in Chief is not in charge. (Neither are the secret societies, the media, congress, Bill and Hillary, or the leftwing cooks.)
Only a fool denies in his heart that there is no God. If God is God, then God must be in complete control. Otherwise he would not be God. Okay, a short foray into deep thought was necessary, but it is true. God even pre-wrote the future through his prophets so that men would gain a real grasp on reality even though they have denied the existence of a supremely superior being.
Obama's policies will not work, but not because of his extremely wrong worldview. The only possible way any foreign policy can work is if it would line up completely with God's design as revealed in scripture. That means a total alignment with the nation of Israel, God's covenant people, and the implementation of national principle based on the solid rock of the scriptures. But alas, not even the Christian Church of America (as a whole) carries a Biblical Worldview.
So, in the final analysis: Barack Obama's strategy is meaningless, except for the American blood that will be shed in his ridiculous 75% push in Afghanistan. My advice is to turn your eyes to the Word of God and to the Son, Jesus Christ as quickly and as often as you possibly can. Other than the above mentioned foolishness, it is a wonderful day to be alive and serving the real King!

Iran Successfully Simulates Nuclear Detonation

While shallow thinking and celebrity happenings envelopes everything American these days, Iran continues to defy the world and progress toward creating its own version of doomsday!
Once again, the diplomatic tactics employed by the Obama Administration are proving to be nothing but hot air. Iran has seen enough of the American Neophyte in Chief to know that his backbone is nothing more than jelly and his words the frosting on a cream puff. Even as news (see article below) is released that Iran has completed everything short of a batch of purely refined uranium in order to build its bomb, Obama continues to hold to his 'end of year' ultimatum. The track record suggests that, should Iran not comply (and they won't), an entirely new series of ultimatums will come forth. If and when the time to actually do something about Iran arrives at Obama's doorstep, it will take him at least three months to re-think his strategy, and then he will only go 75% of the way to what will need to be done. So.....................
Israel is, and will continue to be left with the responsibility to stop the Iranian nuclear program before it is too late. It will not be by modifying international sanctions. It will be at the butt end of a 20 millimeter Vulcan Cannon from any number of F-16 and F15 fighter jets. December is quickly waning, so you can figure that 2010 is going to carry the sparks that were seen by the prophets nearly 2,500 years ago. Read the following from today's Debkafiles.
Iran Successfully Simulates Nuclear Warhead Detonation - report
DEBKAfile Special Report
December 4, 2009, 10:14 AM (GMT+02:00)

German intelligence reports that Iranian scientists have successfully simulated the detonation of a nuclear warhead in laboratory conditions, in an effort to sidestep an underground nuclear test like the one that brought the world down on North Korea's head earlier this year. DEBKAfile's Iranian and intelligence sources report that this development is alarming because detonation is one of the most difficult technological challenges in the development of a nuclear weapon. Mastering it carries Iran past one of the last major obstacles confronting its program for the manufacture of a nuclear warhead.
After this breakthrough, the German BND intelligence believes it will take Tehran no more than a year to perfect its expertise and stock enough highly-enriched uranium to make the last leap toward building the first Iranian nuclear bomb or warhead. DEBKAfile's military sources confirm that simulated detonation of a warhead takes Iran to the highest level of weapons development.
Using the example of Israel and other nations, Western nuclear arms experts have claimed in recent years that since the emergence of simulated detonation technique, nuclear tests are no longer necessary.
With this hurdle overcome, Tehran has set about restructuring its defense ministry for the coming task of actually making a weapon.
The new Department for Expanded Technology Applications - FEDAT was set up to speed up the military nuclear program. It is divided into sub-departments for uranium mining (to increase the output of the Yazd mines), enrichment (to guarantee the quantity of high-grade uranium needed for weapons), metallurgy, neutrons, highly explosive material and fuel supply.
Wednesday, Dec. 2, Iran's president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said: "The Iranian nation will by itself make the 20 percent (nuclear) fuel (enriched uranium) and whatever it needs."
President Barack Obama has reminded Tehran that it has until the end of the year for a negotiated accommodation on its nuclear program that will uphold its international obligations. However, tor Iran's leaders, progress toward a nuclear weapon is now unstoppable by any diplomatic means.

European Union Moves to Divide Jerusalem

Led by Sweden, there are reports that 27 member states of the European union are prepared to recognize a portion of Jerusalem as the capital of a Palestinian State.
This unprecedented campaign has united Israel's political parties as never before. Even Prime Minister Netanyahu's bitter rival, Tzipi Livni, has condemned this action.

The Europeans have become aggressively active in a desperate attempt to save the collapsing government of Palestinian Authority. Ever since Hamas won the "elections" in Gaza, the PA has been fighting an uphill battle to stay relevant. All indicators are reporting that with each day the PA and its President Abbas are growing weaker and weaker.

With negotiations with Israel at an impasse, Hamas is fully engaged in talks over a possible prisoner exchange to gain the freedom of abducted soldier Shalit. Hamas is effectively acting like the representative of the Palestinians. Caught in this bind, Abbas has reached out to his European allies and subsidizers to marginalize Israel by recognizing a Palestinian State with Jerusalem as its capital. Even Israelis like Livni and Peres who support this solution adamantly oppose this conclusion being imposed on Israel. They believe this should be a result of final status talks.

But it is important to understand that this is not just a debating point. Israel is now faced with a very serious challenge. How can it function in an international community that feels it can impose its will on Israel without consent of this democratic government?

Meanwhile, the Netanyahu government's moratorium on construction in the West Bank is causing civil strife in Israel. Communities are opposing the presence of building inspectors in their areas. Foreign inspectors are demanding the right to monitor their activities.

When did Israel agree to this? Did Israel agree to give up its sovereignty over its own territory and people? Maybe the EU concludes that nearly 40 years worth of concessions mean that Israel will again back down to the international will. FAT CHANCE!
This action is just one more, maybe the last signal to Israel that the world is standing against it with a clenched fist and a long knife for dividing the land. Israel knows that any more concessions of land will only lead to its eventual annihilation. Nukes on one hand, world opinion on the other......time is running out. Not even a brilliant tactician like Benjamin Netanyahu has the ability to stave off what is coming. PRAY FOR THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM.....NOW!

No Pussyfootin Around by Persia

Sorry for this non-professional moment, but doesn't this guy look like a Spider Monkey that was trained to hold up two fingers? Talk about a missing link! Yet somehow the man lives out a life of Biblical proportions. Not in any way shape or form a Godly life, but a Biblically prophesied life. Ahmadinejad may not be the Iranian leader when the Ezekiel 38 and 39 war actually takes places, but he surely is the leader preparing the fuse that will eventually be lit. He is hell-bent to send the world into a messianic holocaust, and I believe he will succeed. Oh how funny it will be when he figures out he was backing the WRONG Messiah!
However, to give Mahmoud Ahmadinejad one note of merit....he has proven himself smarter than Barack Obama. No unclenched fist here. No SIR! This fist is clenched and radiating with a nuclear glow. While President Obama suffers through party crashers and actual military decisions that continue to cause the world to loose respect of America, Mahmoud flashes a grin and defies the world. Even moderate Muslims must hold him in higher regard than they do the neophyte in the White House. Oh, am I too harsh? (Get over it!) Obama is leading the USA down a path to irrelevance, if not destruction, and Ahmadinejad is re-directing the world back to God. (Remember, he thinks he's doing the work of Allah, but is actually about to become the catalyst that reveals Jehovah as supreme!) Anyway, Mahmoud decided to defy the world again. Read this from today's Jerusalem Post:
Iran will now enrich its uranium to an even higher level, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Tuesday, defying a UN call to halt the process due to fears over the country's nuclear program.
Ahmadinejad expressed frustration with negotiations over a UN-backed deal to swap Iran's low-enriched uranium for higher-enriched fuel rods to power its medical research reactor.
"I declare here that with the grace of God, the Iranian nation will produce 20 percent (enriched uranium) and anything it needs itself," Ahmadinejad told a cheering crowd of thousands in the southern city Isfahan.
"We told them, give us the 20 percent fuel (in an exchange)," he said. "But then they started adding conditions. So we said, if you want to give us the fuel we'll take it. If not, then fine and goodbye."

The defiant call was similar in tone to the president's announcement Sunday that the country would boost its nuclear activity tenfold, despite the widespread belief that Iran simply does not have the resources to match its boasts.
Iran currently has one operating enrichment facility, at the central town of Natanz, which has churned out around 3,300 pounds (1,500 kilograms) of 3.5 percent enriched uranium over the past years.
The research reactor in Teheran, however, needs uranium enriched to 20 percent.
Enriching uranium even further, to levels around 90 percent, however, results in material suitable for a nuclear war head, something the West feels Iran is striving to do secretly.
The idea behind the swap was to get the bulk of Iran's uranium out of the country so it would not have enough material build a bomb. Iran denies the charge and insists its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes

So there you have it. Hang onto your hat. The next few weeks and months might just produce the whirlwind talked about in Psalm 83. Oh, by the way, Jesus is COMING.

While we await President Obama's decision on Afghanistan with baited breath, other parts of the region continue to move toward a cataclysmic showdown.
A calm before the storm seems to have descended over the Middle East. Israel has made another concession....that of giving in to Obama's demand to halt Jewish settlement activity on the West Bank. The move will provide only a momentary reprieve. Israeli concessions have not, nor will they ever work in stemming the tide of hatred. In fact, the current US diplomatic strategy has served to accomplish only one thing...the enemies of Israel have re-stocked and re-loaded. While we putter around in Afghanistan (in my opinion we should either fight to win or get out) the Middle East is steaming just under the surface and will soon reach a boiling point. What is the issue, besides the desire to drive the Jews into the sea? It's the LAND. Holy jihad is required when a land dominated by Islam is occupied by the infidel. Ishmael (Arabs) has claimed the land of Palestine as a birthright from Abraham. Though the Jews hold the ancient title deed and have always had a presence on the land, Palestine was dominated by Islam for several centuries. They claim it....and they want it back. Concessions of little portions of land will not fill the bill. They want it all...and will do whatever is necessary to get it all. To that end, a massive stockpiling of missiles has been taking place during this lull. Read the following bravado by a Lebanese/Hizbollah Sheiks from the Jerusalem Post.

Hizbullah will improve its weapons capabilities to face off any Israeli threat, the group's leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah's said Monday, adding that armed struggle was the only way to regain "Arab lands" captured by Israel. Nasrallah's remarks signaled the group has no intention of meeting a United Nations resolution requiring it to give up its weapons. Nasrallah gave no details on the weapons plans, but Hizbullah has said it has tens of thousands of rockets. The IDF contends that since the Second Lebanon War, Hizbullah has tripled its prewar arsenal to more than 40,000 rockets, some of which can strike virtually anywhere in Israel - a dramatic improvement over the short-range missiles fired in the 2006 conflict. Nasrallah said the buildup was necessary. "The continuation of Israeli threats against Lebanon ... force the resistance to seek more power in order to improve its capabilities," Nasrallah told reporters via video link from a secret location.

Many are asking if the events depicted in Psalm 83, Ezekiel 25, Jeremiah 12, and eventual Ezekiel 38 and 39 are about to take place. I wish I could say, but the Lord has only given us eyes to see the season, not the date. Israel continues to do its best to stave off war by following a diplomatic tact. They understand fully that any military action at this point will turn the entire world against them. Yet delay is allowing Iran to continue to develop its nuclear ambitions, rockets are being stockpiled by the thousands in Lebanon and Gaza, and anti-Israeli sentiment is being fed by international leaders, including our own. If 2009 ends without war in the Middle-East, 2010 will, in my opinion, prove to be an interesting year to say the least. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Pray for the salvation of the Jews. Pray for a continued awakening to Christ among Muslims, whom God loves just as much as he does you and me.
